Until his passing in 2016, Thomas E. Tumbusch was a renowned publisher for Tomart Publications – a company which produced contemporary collectible price guide books and magazines. Tumbusch produced seven books on Disney collectibles for Tomart, while also serving as editor-in-chief for both Tomart's Disneyana Update and Tomart's Action Figure Digest.

Tomart Publications also produced Tomart's Guide to Radio Premium and Cereal Box Collectibles, Tomart's Guide to Character & Promotional Glasses, Tomart's Guide to Worldwide Star Wars Collectibles, Tomart's Price Guide to Hot Wheels Collectibles, and countless other titles. Tumbusch was often listed as an expert on contemporary collectibles, with his biggest piece of advice for collectors being: find what you like and go “hog wild.”

Well, now is your chance! Hakes Americana & Collectibles Auction #220 is open for bidding. Featured within this auction are several impressive pieces from the Tomart Archives.

Lot 1538 showcases a Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse “Partners” first issue bronze statue. This limited edition 10-3/4” tall statue, which depicts Walt Disney holding hands with his most famous creation, was created by Disney legend, Blaine Gibson.

Within lot 1545 is a rare Walt Disney Studios Christmas card from 1931. The front of the card reads “Yoo Hoo!” and opens to reveal a picture of Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Horace Horsecollar, and Clarabelle Cow caroling beside the words “A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”

Highlighted in lot 1579 is a near complete example of a Mickey Mouse Waddle Book. This 28-page story features both color and black and white illustrations drawn by Walt Disney Studios staff.

Included in lot 1622 are seven different Mickey Mouse Globetrotter Club member buttons form the 1930s. Each button, aside from one, includes both a picture of Mickey and a sponsor’s name.

Lot 1716 showcases an exceptional sculpture of Pinocchio in Geppetto’s workshop, crafted by Enzo Arzenton for the Laurenz Disney Collection. This hand-decorated porcelain statue depicts Pinocchio, Geppetto, Figaro, Cleo, and Jiminy Cricket.

Featured in lot 1741 is the Walt Disney World Magical Milestones 35th Anniversary framed pin set. This limited edition set includes pins celebrating moments, experiences and attractions from each of Disney World’s 35 years.

Within lot 1866 are four Captain Marvel buttons, a pencil clip and a patch all from the 1940s. Instantly providing you with a collection of six rare Captain Marvel club premiums.

Lot 2060 includes promotional materials from Todd McFarlane’s line of Spawn toys, such as glossy stills, 11 toy fair promotional packs, comic books, posters, as well as figures and playsets.

Highlighted in lot 2268 is a Mello-Wheat premium Treasure Hunt game and map. This rare premium was issued in 1934 in conjunction with the release of the film adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's novel Treasure Island.

Featured in lot 2372 is a Howdy Doody figural light up badge. Although no loner working, with a new bulb and battery this figure could likely light up once more.
