Another auction, another incredible selection from Hake’s Americana & Collectibles! Auction #221 is open for bidding and includes everything from historical memorabilia and top-rated comics to concert posters and so much more. An incredible selection featured this year is the Greg Hildebrandt Original Art Collection.

Greg and his twin brother Tim began pursuing their art careers immediately after graduating from the Meinzinger Art School. In 1963, both brothers were hired by Arch Bishop Fulton J. Sheen to create art for his weekly TV show, Life is Worth Living. Eventually, the brothers shifted their focus to commercial illustration. After illustrating a series of The Lord of the Rings calendars for Ballantine Books, the Hildebrandt brothers gained international fame. George Lucas even hired them to create the movie poster for his first Star Wars film.

Following Tim’s passing in 2006, Greg painted three new pieces for Star Wars compendium covers along with comic covers for Deadpool, Old Man Logan, Secret Wars, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Captain America. He also started his own series, The Dark Side, where he paints his favorite characters at extremely large sizes. This collection featured at Hake’s includes exceptional pieces of original art by Greg.
