Quantcast

A set of U.S. $20 Saint-Gaudens gold pieces, designed by sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens per President Theodore Roosevelt’s request, will be auctioned on eBay next week. The rare set of American gold coins will be open for bidding from March 29 through April 8, 2018.

Those interested in viewing the set and registering to bid before the auction opens, can do so at www.saintset.com. The coins will be sold through coin dealer Barry Stuppler, president of Mint State Gold by Stuppler, under eBay user ID verypq.

“The set is considered among the rarest collections in the coin world. Twenty-one of the collection’s coins are either the finest known or tied for the finest known surviving examples. Ten of these historic coins previously belonged in the most renowned collections assembled over the decades by the country’s most respected collectors,” Stuppler said.

“We are honored to partner with Stuppler in the auctioning of the A&A $20 Gold Saint-Gaudens Collection,” an eBay spokesperson said. “Our ability to reach a broad, sophisticated market of 170 million active buyers is the perfect fit for this unique coin collection. We recognize that bidders will go beyond the typical coin collectors, as this is a chance to own a truly one-of-a-kind investment.”

The Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) authenticated and guaranteed these $20 U.S. gold coins, known as Double Eagles, as being the high quality grade Saint-Gaudens coin set.

“The rich history and having many of the finest coins ever found in this series together in this extensive collection is what makes this set a rare find,” Stuppler, President of the Professional Numismatists Guild, said. “The winner of the auction can continue the pedigree with their preferred selected name and will join the ranks of the most respected rare coin collectors today.”

This one of a kind collection estimated to be worth more than $7 million. After the sale, 3% of the proceeds will be donated to the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, The ALS Association, and the Anti-Counterfeiting Education Foundation.
