Here’s a question for Star Wars toy collectors who love action figures: what’s better than getting one? Answer: getting three!

Hake’s Auctions is currently offering another crop of incredible Star Wars collectibles from the Russell Branton Collection. Among the predominately high grade toy memorabilia are four of the three-pack special action figure sets that were initially sold during Kenner’s original Star Wars run.

Kenner created 16 three-pack sets with the Star Wars or Empire Strikes Back logo. The sets are predominately themed by character type, status, and geographic location, including packs of creatures, heroes, Rebels, Imperials, droids, villains, Hoth, and Bespin.

A Star Wars – Villain Set three-pack Series 1 AFA 60 EX square box/round punch sample will cross the block in Auction #225. This set features action figures of a Stormtrooper, Darth Vader, and Death Squad Commander from Kenner’s 1978 toy line. What sets this particular set apart is that this type of three-pack is a preproduction in nature and never produced with these box characteristics.

Also from the ’78 line is the Star Wars – Hero Set three-pack Series 2 AFA 90 NM+/MT. This high grade example comes on an unpunched card, containing figures of Luke as the X-Wing Pilot, Ben Kenobi, and Han Solo.

Moving on to the second film in the trilogy, is the Empire Strikes Back – Rebel Set three-pack Series 2 AFA 80 Y-NM. This set from Kenner’s ’81 toy line houses action figures of 2-1B, Princess Leia in Hoth outfit, and a Rebel Commander.

The final set in this auction is the Empire Strikes Back – Bespin Set three-pack Series 3 AFA 85 NM+. Containing action figures of C-3PO, Ugnaught, and a Cloud Car Pilot, this piece comes from the 1982 toy line.

These toys join dozens more from Branton’s collection, which are currently open for bidding on Hake’s website. The auction closes in two weeks on November 13-15, 2018.
