As Hake’s Auctions plans each new premier event, recent years have developed a corollary clamor for item previews from a cavalcade of serious, devoted Star Wars collectors. Since the introduction of the Russell Branton Star Wars Collection, Hake’s has set multiple records for action figures and related memorabilia, introducing exceptional rarities into the market.

Auction #226 will contain another round of sought after Star Wars memorabilia with action figures, playsets, coins, and more.

One of the biggest offerings from the Russell Branton Collection, figuratively and literally, will have Star Wars fans on the hunt for the winning bid. Hake’s is selling a Boba Fett life-size Don Post figure, which shows the popular Mandalorian bounty hunter as he looked in Return of the Jedi. Made by Don Post Studios in 1996 through original reference materials, this figure is numbered 92 from a limited edition run of 250. The figure is 6’6” (to the top of the rocket), standing on a plaque which is engraved with the movie title and edition number. The figure is made largely of fiberglass with fabric suit, featuring Boba Fett’s signature outfit and weapons, including armor plates, utility belt, backpack, rocket boosters, and more.

Another major piece in the auction, is the Cantina Adventure Set Sears Exclusive AFA 80, which comes with Snaggletooth, Greedo, Hammerhead, and Walrus Man, plus weapons, backdrop, and floor. What makes the set so desirable is the Snaggletooth figure with a blue outfit and silver boots. It was later updated to make it match the movie more closely, re-sculpted as a shorter figure, barefoot, and in a red outfit. Only the “Red Snaggletooth” was released on card, making the “Blue Snaggletooth” a rare, desirable figure.

A trio of three-packs are up for bid in the auction, led by the Android Set three-pack Series 1 AFA 85 rarity. The set, which was released in 1978, includes figures of C-3PO, R2-D2, and Chewbacca. The 1980 Empire Strikes Back Bespin Alliance three-pack Series 1 AFA 75 features the Bespin Security Guard (white), Lando Calrissian, and Luke Skywalker (Bespin Fatigues). The Empire Strikes Back Imperial Set three-pack Series 2 AFA 80 from 1981 contains the Imperial Commander, Dengar, and AT-AT Driver.

Another slate of proof cards are in Auction #226, including the Revenge of the Jedi Luke Skywalker (X-Wing Fighter Pilot) proof card AFA 85. This is one of 50 characters produced on Revenge cards before the movie was retitled Return of the Jedi. Another key example is the Power of the Force Weequay blank back Cromalin proof card AFA 90 from the 1985 toy line. The card is hand-cut with four square corners, white edges, and trace of register marks.

A few other highlights from the Branton Collection include a ’79 Boba Fett 21-back-B AFA 85 and a Power of the Force Tatooine Skiff AFA 80 from ’85. Featured international offerings are a Takara Stormtrooper 7” Series AFA 80 from ’78 that was released exclusively for the Japanese market and a Lili Ledy “La Guerrade Las Galaxias” Tusken Raider 12” Series AFA ng rare Spanish release from ’78.

Outside of the Branton items, Hake’s has 11 of the original 12-back figures that were released in 1978. Those high grade pieces include a Darth Vader 12-back-A AFA 85 and Ben Kenobi 12-back-A AFA 80+ (SKU on footer) – both on unpunched cards. Leading this group is the Luke Skywalker double telescoping 12-back-A AFA 80 (SKU on footer). This is rare figure comes with the double telescoping lighsaber that features a second extendable piece.
