Superheroes face-off and an important character debuts in Heritage’s current Sunday Internet Comics, Animation & Art Auction. The auction, which closes on April 28, 2019, features Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man original art and a high grade copy of Phoenix’s first appearance.

A page from the first crossover between DC and Marvel is a key piece in the auction. The Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man page 85 original art by Ross Andru and Dick Giordano comes from the issue that sees the two popular characters join forces to battle Lex Luthor and Dr. Octopus to save the world. The ink over graphite on Bristol board, with an image area of 9-1/4” x 12-1/4”, shows Spider-Man facing Lex and Superman taking on Mother Nature.

Another lot that’ll likely see spirited bidding is X-Men #101 CGC 9.8, featuring the origin and first appearance of Phoenix. It also sees appearances of frequent foe Black Tom Cassidy and early X-Men antagonist Juggernaut. The high grade issue depicts art and cover by Dave Cockrum.

The current Sunday Internet Comics, Animation & Art Auction is filled with 765 lots of comics, original art, and memorabilia. Bidding opens at 6 PM on April 28 at ha.com.
