Heritage’s Sunday Comics, Animation & Art Weekly Online Auction contains the second issue of Superman and Captain America’s first Silver Age appearance. These and many other comics close for bidding on September 22, 2019.

Superman #2 CGC 2.5 includes a cover and art by Joe Shuster and Paul Cassidy, as well as a story by Jerry Siegel, with a Superman pin-up page illustrated by Shuster. It is notable, and particularly appealing to some collectors, because it also includes a full-page ad for the 1939 New York’s World Fair edition.

In The Avengers #4 CGC 7.0 Captain America joins the Avengers. The issue, which is tied for No. 44 on Overstreet’s list of the “Top 50 Silver Age Comics,” features cover and art by Jack Kirby. It includes the story of Captain America being frozen in suspended animation and the “death” of Bucky, which were not told during the Golden Age.

The current Sunday auction at Heritage contains 1,035 lots of comics, original art, and memorabilia. Bidding opens at 6 PM CT on ha.com.
