Hake’s Auctions is closing out 2019 with a bang! Auction #228 is open for bidding and features 2,388 lots ranging from pop culture to historical memorabilia, making it their largest event of the year!

Among the desirable collections featured in this auction is a selection of popular Captain Action costumes. Created by G.I. Joe toy developer Stan Weston, Captain Action first burst onto the scene in the 1960s. The articulated, 12” figure was marketed as a “mysterious man of many identities,” who was able to adopt the guise of several heroes.

Spawning numerous successful lines of action figures, Captain Action quickly expanded beyond toy shelves, conquering the world of comics, collectibles and related merchandise and has enjoyed a recent resurgence with further entertainment and licensing initiatives planned across multiple media platforms.

A major highlight of the Captain Action costumes on offer is the Spider-Man uniform and equipment boxed set. The rare set includes Spider-Man’s mask, uniform, utility belt, spider light, spider venom spray, spider grappling hook with rope, web sword, and spider. This 1967 first issue box also comes with a “video-matic ring” that flickers between Captain Action and Spider-Man.

Also featured in the sale is the Captain America uniform and equipment boxed set which includes the full-body uniform, ultrasonic intensifier pistol, laser gun, shield, and belt with holster. This box includes a “video-matic ring” that flickers between Captain Action and his logo.

Channeling the Man of Steel, the subsequent lot includes the Superman uniform and equipment boxed set. Along with his mask, caped uniform, Phantom Zone projector, Kryptonite, and shackles, this set comes with a caped Krypto. The “video-matic ring” featured in this set flickers between Captain Action and Superman.

Last but certainly not least is the Batman uniform and equipment boxed set featuring his cowl, jumpsuit with bat decal, utility belt, grappling hook, batarang, laser, and a flashlight. This set also includes a “video-matic ring” that flickers between Batman and Captain Action.

Bidding on these rare pieces, as well as the over 2,000 lots featured in Auction #228, has already begun and closes on November 6-7, 2019. Head over to hakes.com to get started on bidding today.
