MyComicShop will kick off their April Prime Auction on April 6, 2024 with a wide array of comics, original art, and vintage paper. This week, they are showcasing the pre-1960 group in the auction which will be taking bids on April 6-15.

There are some rare vintage paper items available, including a copy of Wide Awake Library #553 from April 1883. Published by notable dime novel publisher Frank Tousey, the series mostly focused on more grounded adventure stories, but this issue featured a decidedly science fiction tale written by Luis Philip Senarens under the pseudonym “Noname.” Senarens was known as “the Jules Verne of America” and based his pen name on Verne’s Captain Nemo. An incredible piece of Americana and more specifically an early example of the kind of fantastical storytelling that evolved into the comics we enjoy so much.
