Fall is almost here, which means it’s time for the ghosts and goblins of Halloween! Fans of the holiday and horror genre in the Maryland area can begin the season with a trip to Monster-Mania Con. The annual event will be held on September 29 through October 1, 2017 at the Delta Hotel Marriott (formerly the Hunt Valley Inn) at 245 Shawan Road, Hunt Valley, MD.

Media guests are Rose McGowan (Charmed), Val Kilmer (Batman Forever), Noah Schnapp (Stranger Things), Andrew Divoff (The Wishmaster), Malcolm McDowell (Clockwork Orange), Michael Biehn (The Terminator), Adrienne Barbeau (Swamp Thing), Curtis Armstrong (Revenge of the Nerds), Dean Cain (Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman), C.J. Graham (Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives), Barbara Steele (Black Sunday), Ricou Browning (Creature from the Black Lagoon), Alex Vincent (Cult of Chucky), Jen and Sylvia Soska (American Mary), Jennifer Blanc (The Crow), Eugene Clark (Land of the Dead), and Alexandra Breckenridge (The Walking Dead).

There will be a Hellraiser reunion with Doug Bradley, Ashley Laurence, Simon Bamford, Barbie Wilde, and Nicholas Vince, plus a small Saw reunion with Tobin Bell, Dina Meyer, and Betsy Russell.

Throughout the weekend, horror movies starring the con’s guests will be shown. They’ll also host panels and Q&As with guests, costume contest, and professional photos.

Monster-Mania Con will also be the launch site for Gemstone Publishing’s newest entry in the “how to” series, The Overstreet Guide to Collecting Horror. The book presents features on horror movies, comic books, TV shows, literature, soundtracks, and video games, plus a wide variety of collectibles. There are interviews with collectors and horror actors Linnea Quigley (Night of the Demons) and Sid Haig (House of 1000 Corpses). It also includes a foreword by Quigley! A limited number of copies will be available at the con.

The con is open Friday 5 PM to 10 PM, Saturday 10 AM to 6 PM (autograph room) and 7 PM (dealers room), and Sunday 10 AM to 5 PM. Films and events are open Friday 5 PM to 2 AM, Saturday 10 AM to 2 AM, and Sunday 10 AM to 5 PM.

At the door, the weekend pass is $60, Friday is $30, Saturday is $30, and Sunday is $20. There are VIP and preshow passes as well and the preshow admission gets in an hour early each day.
