For many students, high school is a means to an end. Between cliques, exams, and cafeteria lunches, those four years are the longest in a young teen’s life. But while many dread entering high school, those those enrolled at King’s Dominion Atelier of the Deadly Arts can’t wait to get started. This secret high school based in San Francisco trains the next generation of top assassins for crime families across the globe.

Deadly Class – written by Rick Remender, illustrated by Wesley Craig, colored by Lee Loughridge, and lettered by Rus Wooton – is a horror comic centered around the students of King’s Dominion Atelier of the Deadly Arts. The series kicks off with Marcus Lopez Arguello making the transition from living on the streets to being enrolled into a school of assassins. Run by Master Lin, this academy invites the children of mob bosses and mass murderers to learn the same trade as their parents. Additional students include Saya Kuroki, Willie Lewis, Maria Salazar, Shawn Parcel, Daniel and Kendall.

Enrolling in King’s Dominion Atelier of the Deadly Arts is one of very few decisions Marcus has been able to make for himself. Throughout his life, Marcus has encountered one unfortunate event after the other, leaving him increasingly ostracized from humanity. Following the tragic death of his parents, Marcus was placed in an orphanage run by a vicious headmaster. This headmaster demanded difficult manual labor from Marcus in order for him to retain residence. Along with this continued degradation, Marcus was regularly abused by his roommates and guardians.

His sanity pushed to the brink, Marcus eventually commits a massive act of violence, which earns him a place in the assassin filled academy. While largely centered around the ups and downs of Marcus, the series also follows the stories and eventual downfalls of additional students at the King’s Dominion Atelier of the Deadly Arts. Did you know you will soon have the chance to see these downfalls play out on the small screen?

Based on the Image Comic, Deadly Class has picked up for a live action project on SyFy. The network describes the upcoming series as a “coming of age journey full of ancient mystery and teen angst.” Produced by the Russo Brothers (Avengers: Infinity War), the series is set to star Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange), Benjamin Wadsworth (Teen Wolf), Lana Condor (X-Men: Apocalypse), Maria Gabriela de Faria (Yo Soy Franky), Luke Tennie (Shock and Awe), Liam James (The Killing), and Michel Duval (Queen of the South).

Arriving in 2019, SyFy has recently released the first trailer for this highly-anticipated horror series.
