In addition to co-creating the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents with artist Wally Wood and having T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agent Dynamo’s alter ego named after him, did you know that writer Len Brown had earlier played a major role in the development of Mars Attacks?

While working at Topps in 1962, Brown was inspired by Wood’s now-classic cover for EC’s Weird Science #16 and pitched the idea of Mars Attacks to department head Woody Gelman. Bob Powell provided the pencil art, and Norman Saunders painted the now-highly collectible original 55-card set. The project would, of course, go on to inspire comic books and the 1996 feature film.
