BOOM! Studios has just announced an all-new original comic series led by writer Cullen Bunn (Deadpool) and artist Jack T. Cole, premiering June 2017. The new horror series, entitled The Unsound, follows a young woman named Ashli as she is thrust into the middle of a strange supernatural conspiracy.

After her first day working at Saint Cascia Psychiatric Hospital descends into a riot, Ashli finds herself fleeing into the bowels of the hospital. Unfortunately, this leads her into a hellish new world of lunatics and monsters, cloaked in black magic and heinous scientific experiments. This descent into madness forces Ashli to ask herself: Is there such a thing as sanity?

The Unsound is a surreal, scary story, full of chilling encounters and haunting experiences, and it delves deep into the nature of reality, perception and insanity. It's territory that I find myself drawn to frequently, and in many ways, this is a sister series to The Empty Man. Here, though, we're exploring a new landscape and developing a new horrific mythos,” shared Bunn, whose graphic novel from BOOM! Studios, The Empty Man, is being adapted into a feature film from 20th Century Fox.

“As an artist, working with Cullen Bunn's creative genius for horror offers up many exciting opportunities to visually explore the genre,” added Cole.

“Working with Cullen on The Empty Man was one of my favorite experiences of recent years, so I jumped at the chance to help usher in his next horror classic. A cerebral, unsettling tale of an asylum on the brink of hysteria, The Unsound is also a showcase for Jack T. Cole—your new favorite artist,” concluded Eric Harburn, Editor, BOOM! Studios.

The Unsound debuts June 2017, joining BOOM! Studios long line of original series including Destroyer, Godshaper, Grass Kings, The Woods, and Irredeemable.
