Star Trek: Discovery is gearing up to boldly go where no one has gone before. The highly-anticipated new series is set 10 years before the timeline of Star Trek: The Original Series. Along with the show’s new adventures, IDW Publishing is launching a new tie-in comic for the series. The Hollywood Reporter revealed a first look at the debut issue’s cover – featuring Klingon leader T’Kuvma portrayed by Chris Obi – along with details on a new series’ tie-in novel.

The comic and novel will both fit within the main series’ canon, connecting into the events of the show. Star Trek comic writer Mike Johnson, Discovery series writer Kirsten Beyer and artist Tony Shasteen (Star Trek: Boldly Go) will lead the new comic. This comic series will dive into the past of several key Klingon characters to appear on the show.

Star Trek: Discovery will air on CBS All Access, Canada’s Space channel, and Netflix beginning on September 24, 2017. The tie-in comic series will launch in October.
