As revealed by Multiversity Comics, Valiant has announced a new, standalone tale spotlighting Owen Cho in Secret Weapons: Owen’s Story #0. On March 14, 2018 the complete Secret Weapons creative team – including Academy Award nominee Eric Heisserer (Arrival) and Harvey Award-nominated artists Raúl Allén (Bloodshot Reborn) and Patricia Martín (Wrath of the Eternal Warrior) – reunite for this special issue following one of Livewire’s newest recruits.

Owen Cho is a conjurer, able to materialize objects out of thin air, but unfortunately he can’t control what he summons or when it might arrive. His gift has landed him in a heap of trouble over the years. Namely, getting him locked away in The Willows. Thankfully, Livewire and her team of like-minded “secret weapons” gave him a path with purpose.

But what do you do with a heap of undesirable objects summoned from parts unknown, anyway? Have a garage sale, of course! Discover the significance behind the otherwise ordinary trinkets, toys, and gadgets conjured by Owens otherworldly ability across a series of lavishly illustrated double-page spreads and short stories specific to each object that weave together to form one cohesive narrative.

“We’re fortunate to have one of the most ambitious and hardest-working stables of creators anywhere in the industry at Valiant, and collectively, theyve been challenging themselves to push the boundaries of the medium even farther in 2018. In the first few months of the new year alone, well see Eric Heisserer and Adam Pollina attempt a new style of day-by-day, panel-by-panel storytelling in Secret Weapons #0; a ‘black issue told in total darkness by Jeff Lemire in Bloodshot Salvation #7; and, now, another innovative Secret Weapons special with a distinctive style and technique quite unlike any other Ive ever seen attempted on the comics page,” said Valiant Editor-in-Chief Warren Simons.

Before the Secret Weapons take center stage in Harbinger Wars 2 in May 2018, pick up Secret Weapons: Owen’s Story #0 on March 14. This special standalone features covers by Raúl Allén and Sija Hong (Ninjak), Leif Jones (Generation Zero), and rising star Sibylline Meynet. Ahead of this release, Adam Pollina (X-Force) joins Heisserer for the zero issue origin special following Owen Cho’s teammate, Nikki Finch. Secret Weapons #0, releasing on January 3, includes covers by Allén, Meynet, Jong, Veronica Fish (Archie) and Adam Pollina (X-Men: Rise of Apocalypse).
