The 2018 edition of Awesome Games Done Quick is officially underway, with a week-long marathon of speedrunning video games planned out. The marathon kicked off on January 7, 2018 and will run through January 13.

Speedrunning is the act of trying to complete a video game as quickly as possible, usually by utilizing glitches of some sort in order to complete it faster than the developers intended. Many speedruns use certain parameters that the runners must stay within, such as a “100% run” or a “glitchless” run.

AGDQ benefits the Prevent Cancer Foundation, and has previously raised funds in excess of $2 million for that charity as well as others in a single marathon. Games being run during this event include Super Mario Land 2, Mass Effect, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Sonic Mania, and many more. The event can be watched online at the Games Done Quick website.
