The first official dubbed trailer for the new animated film, My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, has been released online courtesy of Funimation. The film’s story takes place between the second and third seasons of the My Hero Academia anime series, which has proven popular worldwide and is currently airing on Cartoon Network’s Toonami block.

My Hero Academia follows Izuku Midoriya, a young boy who was born “quirkless” in a world where about 80% of the world’s population has some sort of superpower, or “quirk.” After a chance encounter with the greatest hero of all, All Might, Izuku is bestowed with a quirk called One For All and manages to make it into U.A., a high school designed to train the next generation of superheroes. Taking on the name “Deku” as his hero name, Izuku trains to become the next Symbol of Peace.

According to the official synopsis, “The climactic finals are over, and U.A. is getting ready for the summer training camp. Deku and All Might receive an invitation from a certain person to go overseas to a giant artificial moving city called I-Island. This island, a kind of ‘science Hollywood’ that gathers the knowledge of scientists from around the world, is holding an exhibition called I-Expo showcasing the results of Quirk and hero item research. In the midst of all this, Deku meets a Quirkless girl named Melissa and remembers his own Quirkless past. Out of the blue, the impregnable security system the island boasts is hacked by villains, and all the people on the island are taken as hostages! Now, a plan that could shake hero society has been put into motion! The man who holds the key to it all is the number one hero and Symbol of Peace, All Might.”

North American showings of My Hero Academia: Two Heroes will begin on September 25, 2018; tickets are set to go on sale on August 24.
