In celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year on February 5, 2019, Marvel and Disney have released two new posters for their upcoming films, Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame. These posters feature the respective logos from the films, but overlaid with traditional Chinese lettering and patterns.

The Captain Marvel poster features her star logo as the centerpiece, with many clouds and stars also seen (perhaps in reference to her time spent flying the skies of Earth in addition to her time spent in space). Waves can also be seen, but just behind them appears to be fire, signifying conflict.

The Endgame poster has many hidden details, particularly within the golden pattern inlaid into the classic Avengers “A” logo – the icons for Hawkeye, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Hulk, and Black Widow can all be seen within. Many traditional Chinese sky lanterns can also be seen on this poster; these lanterns have seen many different uses over the years and in various cultures, ranging from military use (to transmit secret messages over large spaces of land) or in religious or cultural festivals.

Captain Marvel arrives on March 8, 2019, with Avengers: Endgame following on April 26.
