HBO debuted their new trailer for the upcoming Watchmen series during Comic-Con International: San Diego. The three-minute spot delves deeper into the storyline and how it connects to the plot from the original comic series.

“From Damon Lindelof and set in an alternate history where masked vigilantes are treated as outlaws, this drama series embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel of the same name while attempting to break new ground of its own. The cast includes Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Jean Smart, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Hong Chau, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, and James Wolk,” the official trailer description reads.

Watchmen debuted as a comic series by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons in 1986, and the story of the books was adapted as a film in 2009. The 2019 HBO series will provide a look at the fallout from the comic series’ conclusion.

HBO’s Watchmen debuts in October 2019.
