The “Gigantamax” battle feature was the sole focus of the latest Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield trailer which debuted on October 16, 2019. The trailer highlighted new forms for various old school creatures that date back to the earliest generation of the Pokémon games.

These include Gigantamax Pikachu, who bears a chubby appearance resembling the earliest artwork for the character from the late ‘90s, and Gigantamax Eevee, who gains a significant amount of extra fluff. Both of these forms can be gained only by linking data from Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Let’s Go, Eevee!. Also highlighted was Gigantamax Meowth, who ends up somewhat stretched out in the new form; Meowth will also only be available for those who purchase the game early.
