What happens when the Star Wars galaxy is jumbled, and the Rebellion and Empire are mixed into a whole new universe? That’s the question in the four-part animated special, LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy.

The special begins when Sig Greebling (Gaten Matarazzo) finds the Cornerstone, a powerful artifact hidden in a Jedi temple. Soon Sig ends up in a reimagined Star Wars galaxy where heroes and villains have swapped places, as has their technology.

Star Wars released a teaser trailer for the LEGO specials, teasing Rebel AT-ATs, Ewok bounty hunters, Imperial X-fighters and Rebel TIE-wings, a Geonosian Jedi, and Darth Jar Jar (voiced by live-action actor Ahmed Best).

“The opportunity to work with LEGO and Lucasfilm to rebuild the galaxy has been a dream come true,” showrunners and executive producers Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit said. “We’ve been collecting LEGO Star Wars sets for 25 years, and we have approached this project with a fan’s enthusiasm, crafting this story quite literally brick by brick. For new fans, this will be an exciting place to enter the world of LEGO Star Wars, and for lifelong fans, you’re going to see some things that you never thought possible.”

The voice cast includes Mark Hamill, Tony Revolori, Bobby Moynihan, Marsai Martin, and Michael Cusack. It is directed by Chris Buckley.

LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy arrives on Disney+ on September 13, 2024.
