Uma, Dewydd, and Catrin made it safely off the planet and into the unknown of space. First stop? An alien mall. No really. The trio visit a large alien mall filled with plastic surgery potential, pushy shop clerks, dive bars, and shiny new trinkets. Naturally, Uma – the adventurous, energy filled troublemaker – steals a shiny trinket that is much more than what it looks like.

Back under the SafeSky we’re introduced to Special Interceptor Jorn, a no nonsense Triumvirate member who appears to have been given a mission to find the three humans that escaped SafeSky. He’s also Dewydd’s brother.

Issue two had plenty in common with the debut: Uma is a jubilant, bold girl fueled on adrenaline and the thrill of being chased; Dewydd desperately wants to impress her; and Catrin is ready to strangle the both of them for getting her involved in their shenanigans. While the comic, written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly, is mostly exciting and lighthearted, there’s a tone of foreboding that creeps in from the edges to let readers know that this story could get intense.

Marcus To’s art is clean and expressive with comically creative aliens. Irma Kniivila makes great color choices somewhere between Star Trek and Saturday morning cartoon.
