Rebels have finally harmed Father by planting a viral bomb in his control center. Rai, who had been sent to Earth has made it back to New Japan with the help of Eternal Warrior and Lemur.

Things are crazy in 4001 A.D. #3 (of 4). Rai and Lemur are fighting father while Lula and Geo search the city, which is in the throes of chaos, for help to fight father. While Rai remembers a fable from his youth, Lula and Geo find reinforcements in the Positrons on their way to being turned into fuel and the prisoners who dared defy Father.

Written by Matt Kindt, this issue goes into full blown battle mode against Father. It’s filled with exciting action as Rai, his friends, and allies battle the insurmountable odds of beating Father. All the while doing this, Rai knows that killing Father could still doom the city – meaning even if he does win, the story may not have a happy ending.

Clayton Crain’s art continues to shine in this summer event series. It’s beautiful science fiction art, gleaming in shades of white, gray, and blue. Yet, the art is expressive enough to bring an emotional layer to Rai, the Positrons, even Father. I’m excited to see the conclusion of 4001 A.D.
