The emergence of the latest Inhuman, Ulysses, is the focal point behind the latest Marvel Comics event, Civil War II, and the new tie-in to the larger series focuses extensively on him. Ulysses, escorted a handful of other Inhumans, seek out Karnak the Magister at the Tower of Wisdom. Medusa in particular hopes that Karnak can provide some training to Ulysses – that perhaps Ulysses’ visions of the future can become less flawed. Though in Ulysses’ mind, it’s the Magister’s methods themselves that are flawed…

Ulysses #1 serves as an important addition to the overall Civil War II storyline, by focusing on a character that has been so important and yet so under-served when it comes to character development. His time with Karnak and the other inhabitants of the Tower of Wisdom will surely provide some much-needed insight to the extent of his powers, and this is definitely a must-read for people paying attention to the ongoing event because of that.
