The Evil Dead meets a presidential election in the Army of Darkness Ash for President one-shot. Boy was it entertaining.

The Necronomicon Ex Mortis tells Ash that something more evil than it is coming. Something called the Great Darkness. Ash, to use the understatement of the century, has seen a thing or two but this freaks him out. He seeks the help of a medium named Delilah. Together they determine that the Great Darkness has infiltrated the current presidential election. The problem is that they don’t know which candidate is evil. So Ash joins the fray and becomes a third party candidate. It’s a solid plan.

Army of Darkness isn’t exactly high end entertainment, yet this one-shot by Elliott Serrano, was very well written. It’s got horror, comedy, and definitely has satire. It pokes fun at the American political system and some of the platforms of the Democratic and Republican parties. Thankfully, Serrano was clever enough not to make the candidates exact copies of who is currently running for president. This way is much funnier.

The art by Diego Galindo moves the story along and is a lovely complement to the writing. The looks of skepticism are quite funny, there’s passion and heat, plus Bruce Campbell’s wit is translated onto the page.
