Archie Comics; $3.99

The most reviled member of the Riverdale crew has generally been Reggie Mantle (I mean, have you seen the Archie Twitter account? Even those guys can’t stand him!). The brash, egotistical Reggie has always been somewhat of an antagonist to Archie, Jughead, Betty and Veronica, but he’s now got his own book in the “New Riverdale” lineup where he gets to play the hero.

Narrated by his little dachshund, Vader, Reggie and Me tells the story of how great Reggie usually is, and how he never loses – even when Archie himself will admit fault in the process. It’s a pretty cute story that helps to explain Reggie’s dynamic with the rest of his classmates and it fits really well within the rest of the ongoing “New Riverdale” stories. I don’t know if I would read it on its own for people who are coming into the lineup fresh, but for people who are already reading the new Archie Comics lineup, it’s a great companion.
