Batman wanted to create a Justice League of America made of humans who could show other people that anyone can be heroic. Now that the team has been chosen, it’s time to get to work. Batman’s newly assembled JLA has started working together on a few small missions. But, when Ryan and Frost get the Troubalert working, they find that Havok and a team have come to Earth to save it – basically by destroying everything, because, of course.

The JLA gather to fight Havok and his very scary looking minions, but questions loom over the fight. Can they work together? Are they – particularly those new to heroics – ready? Do they trust each other?

This Justice League is imperfect, somewhat untested, and has a little bite. Written by Steve Orlando, they feel like the Justice League combined with the Suicide Squad, with a little of The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow thrown in. Collectively, the team has former villains, newbies, feisty tempers, and Batman. They are missing the honorable quality of teams that would have Superman, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman, but I think that’s what’s going to make this book fun to read.

The pencils were provided by Ivan Reis, inks by Joe Prado, Oclair Albert, and Julio Ferreira, and colors by Marcelo Maiolo. Having an extensive art team shows in the quality of the book. The characters are detailed, exciting, and practically three-dimensional. There’s also an awesome splash page of the team which will get any reader pumped for the next issue.
