Puberty is a dangerous time, but in the world of Man-Eaters, it seems women are most at stake for something going wrong, what with the ability to turn into a man-eating panther and all. This issue presents some exercises that young boys and girls can go through in order to experience the dangers of adolescence in a safe and controlled environment, and helps them process the stories of girls who have endured pantherism.

Man-Eaters has pulled off some sharp social commentary before, but this particular issue’s satire might be its best so far. The little buddy exercises and articles contained within feel like something straight out of a mid-1990s teen magazine, and the resulting tone ends up as something familiar and relatable while still being somewhat sinister. It’s so, so well done and I look forward to keeping up with this crazy series.
