It's official, The CW series has finally filled those iconic red boots. Tyler Hoechlin, best known for his role on Teen Wolf, has been cast to play Clark Kent/Superman on Supergirl. Hoechlin will appear in the first two episodes of the new season, while visiting his cousin Kara/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) in National City.

“Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman. We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character,” shared executive producer Andrew Kreisberg.

Although up until now viewers have yet to truly see Superman, his presence on the show has long been acknowledged. Not only does Superman keep up with his cousin through instant messaging, but he even stepped in to save her from Reactron on one occasion. At least a hazy image of him did. A young version of him also appeared when Kara was suffering from the Black Mercy.

Hoechlin's credits also include Road to Perdition, Hall Pass, Solstice, and Everybody Wants Some. He can now add suiting up as Superman to that list; joining George Reeves, Christopher Reeve, Dean Cain, Tom Welling, Brandon Routh, and Henry Cavill who have also had the privilege.

Supergirl has recently made the move from CBS to The CW, alongside other Berlanti series Arrow, The Flash, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow. An epic crossover event between the shows is slated for December.

Supergirl will return Mondays this fall at 8 PM ET on The CW.
