Dave Gomien, who worked for Diamond Comic Distributors in the early years of the company, is in medical and financial need after sustaining severe burns. His daughter, Maria Gomien, started a GoFundMe page to help raise money for his care.

In the 1980s and into the early 1990s, Gomien ran Diamond Comic Distributors’ distribution center in Charlotte, North Carolina. He ensured that books arrived at comic shops on time, thereby helping creators get their comics in the hands of readers to grow their reach.

Gomien and his family were involved in a house fire on Saturday, March 16, 2024, and he sustained third degree burns on 60% of his body. He is currently at a burn center in Augusta, Georgia and is under full time sedation due to the severity of the burns. Gomien will need several surgeries and will be in the hospital for months.

In addition to his injuries and care, the family has lost their home, which was damaged beyond repair and will need to be rebuilt.

The goal for the GoFundMe is to raise $30,000 for Gomien’s medical care, travel expenses, and other bills that will accrue over the next few months.
