Archie Comics and Netflix have dropped the poster for The Archies movie featuring an Indian adaptation of the Riverdale gang. The poster was released to launch the “100 days” campaign counting down to its arrival on Netflix in December 2023.

In development from Tiger Baby and directed by Zoya Akhtar, the musical is set in an Anglo-Indian community in the 1960s. A trailer was released in June, promising rock ‘n’ roll, friends, freedom, love, heartbreak, parties, and protests, as well as bicycles, skates, cakes, and shakes.

The Indian adaptation stars Agastya Nanda as Archie Andrews, Khushi Kapoor as Betty Cooper, Suhana Khan as Veronica Lodge, Mihir Ahuja as Jughead Jones, Vedang Raina as Reggie Mantle, Dot as Ethel Muggs, and Yuvraj Menda as Dilton Doiley.

“It’s a huge source of pride that the Archie Comics characters and stories resonate with fans globally, and especially in India, for more than 50 years,” Archie Comics CEO/Publisher Jon Goldwater said. “We are thrilled to partner with Netflix and trust Zoya Akhtar and her creative team to deliver a truly unique and exciting take on Archie and friends through the lens of Indian cinema. We know that these characters have global appeal and translating them into other settings and cultures is just the start of what we have planned for future multimedia adaptations.”

The Archies will start streaming on Netflix on December 7.
