As revealed via Variety, Chantal Thuy will be joining the cast of The CW’s upcoming series Black Lightning. The stage actress recently appeared as Marie Louise-Yvette L’Amour in the play The Lady Was Gentleman, along with roles on Madam Secretary and Pretty Little Liars.

Thuy will be playing Grace Choi who is described as “a bartender who becomes the love interest of Anissa Pierce (Nafessa Williams). Grace is a comic book fan who befriends Anissa while she is coming to terms with her abilities and becomes Anissa’s first confidant about the struggles and challenges of having abilities.” 

Grace Choi, created by Judd Winick and Tom Raney, made her debut appearance in Outsiders #1 in 2003. As the daughter of a Bana Amazon, Choi possess great strength and resilience. Before being recruited into the Outsiders, she worked as a bouncer in a meta-human nightclub. 

While Thuy will be joining the series in a recurring role, no details on which episode she will debut in have been released yet.  

Black Lightning is scheduled to begin on The CW in 2018.
