Get ready for some fast paced action on Legends of Tomorrow, a speedster is coming aboard the Waverider. Keiynan Lonsdale will bring his Kid Flash, a/k/a Wally West, to Legends as a series regular during the back half of season three.
The news makes perfect sense for the character and show. Kid Flash has been largely missing from the fourth season of The Flash. Since Barry returned from the Speed Force and Wally’s girlfriend broke up with him, the character has been traveling and trying to find himself. Meanwhile on Legends, Firestorm has left the show following the death of Martin Stein and Jax’s exit, leaving two vacancies on the ship. Legends has been a great destination for Arrowverse characters who were introduced on other shows and then transitioned to series regular success on the Waverider.
Wally has already worked with the Legends twice this season. He had a cameo in the season three premiere, working with Nate, and was part of the big crossover event in late 2017. His next appearance on Legends will be in episode 11 on February 19, then Kid Flash will officially join the team at episode 13 on March 5.
“We loved working with Keiynan in our series premiere ‒ the episode in which we learned that in between seasons two and three he had been fighting crime in Central City with Nick Zano’s Nate Heywood. So when his character stepped away from Flash to go on walkabout, after being dumped and feeling somewhat estranged from his family and team, we knew that Wally West would fit in perfectly on Legends,” executive producer Phil Klemmer said in a statement.
“After all, our show is about a collection of unlikely heroes who all began their journeys questioning who they are and where they belong ‒ only to find those answers while traveling through time and having wacky adventures. So now, Wally West is not only back in the company of old friends from the Arrowverse, he’s fighting alongside a former enemy and career arsonist Mick Rory/Dom Purcell. By the end of this season, Wally will learn that the Legends have a different definition of what it means to be a hero,” Klemmer said.
Legends of Tomorrow will return on Monday, February 12 at 8 PM, now sharing the timeslot with Supergirl.
