Ranjit Chowdhry, the Bollywood actor known in the US for The Office and Prison Break, died on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 in Mumbai. According to local reports, he was visiting India when he suffered a ruptured ulcer in his intestine and died during surgery. He was 64 years old.
Chowdhry starred in several Bollywood films during the late ’70s and into the early ’80s. His career in Hollywood picked up in the ’90s, in It Could Happen to You, Girl 6, I’m Not Rappaport, and several episodes of Cosby.
During the 2000s, Chowdhry was in Autumn in New York, King of the Jungle, Bollywood/Hollywood, Last Holiday, he played Dr. Marvin Gudat on Prison Break, and Vikram on The Office.
His more recent roles were in Bored to Death, Breakaway, Girls, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
