Actor Gavin MacLeod, a veteran of film, TV and stage, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021. He was 90.

He was best known for two very successful runs on television – 168 episodes of The Mary Tyler Moore Show and 249 episodes of The Love Boat – as well as such film roles as Moriarty in director Brian G. Hutton’s 1970 World War II bank heist film Kelly’s Heroes.

His career, which began in the 1950s and extended well into this century, included guest spots on such series as Perry Mason, Ben Casey, Ironside, Hawaii Five-O, The Big Valley, The Andy Griffith Show, My Favorite Martian, Hogan's Heroes, and The Dick Van Dyke Show, the first time he worked with Mary Tyler Moore. His film credits during those days included Blake Edwards’ Operation Petticoat and High Time. He also had a stint on McHale's Navy.

In the 21st century, after The Love Boat, he had guest stints on such diverse offerings as Oz, The King of Queens, JAG, Touched by an Angel, and That ‘70s Show, among others. He also starred in the Christian films Time Changer and The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry.

MacLeod is survived by his second wife, actress Patti Kendig, and two sons and two daughters from his first marriage to Joan Rootvik.
