Former child star and voice actress Jane Withers passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021. She was 95 years old.

Withers began her career when she was a child in the Saturday morning children’s show, Aunt Sally’s Kiddie Revue. Her next big job was a supporting role in Bright Eyes with Shirley Temple. Her first starring role was in Ginger, followed by The Farmer Takes a Wife, Little Miss Nobody, Rascals, and Always in Trouble in the 1930s.

She continued churning out films in the 1940s, such as A Very Young Lady, Johnny Doughboy, My Best Gal, and Affairs of Geraldine. Withers stepped away from the spotlight for a few years, returning in 1956 in Giant. From there she did guest spots on General Electric Theater, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, The Munsters, The Love Boat, and Murder, She Wrote.

Later in her career, Withers moved into voice acting by voicing Laverne in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the sequel, and the movie’s video games.
