Another familiar face is returning to Star Trek. Whoopi Goldberg is set to reprise her character of Guinan on Paramount+’s Star Trek: Picard.

Goldberg portrayed Guinan on Star Trek: The Next Generation from 1988 to ’93. She was reintroduced in the latest trailer for Picard in which she tells him “Your answers are not in the stars. And they never have been.”

Her return had been in the works since 2020 when Picard star Patrick Stewart was a guest on The View, which Goldberg co-hosts. During his interview, Stewart made a formal invitation for Goldberg to appear on the show’s second season. In response, Goldberg stated that, “Star Trek was one of the great experiences, from the beginning to the end. I had the best, best, best time ever.”

In the second season, Picard and his crew travel through the past in the hopes of solving problems from the 21st century. The series stars Alison Pill, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera, Annie Werschling, Jeri Ryan, Evan Evagora, Michelle Hurd, Orla Brady, and Brent Spiner.

Picard season two will start streaming on Paramount+ on Thursday, March 3, 2022.
