Shi creator Billy Tucci concluded his combined Indiegogo and Kickstarter campaigns for his Shi Omnibus Volume 1 on Monday, February 21, 2022, with a total of $306,000. His supporters came from over 50 countries.

The oversized, 500-page edition collects all 12 issues of his first series, Shi: Way of the Warrior, the interlacing Tomoe mini-series and the 48-page Shi vs. Tomoe.

Originally crafted as individual issues by creators, Billy Tucci, Peter Gutierrez, Dan Mishkin, Jimmy Palmiotti, Amanda Conner, and other contributors beginning in 1994, the premium formatted collection features digitally re-mastered pages from the original along with bonus content.

According to Tucci, more than 2,300 copies have shipped thus far. Fulfillment is expected to be completed by mid-March, before he launches the next chapter in his current Shi: Return of the Warrior cycle, Shi: Sakura, written by Steven Peros with art by Tucci and Gardenio Lima, colors by Brian Miller, and lettering by Mindy Lopkin.

“Words can never convey just how grateful Deborah and I are to our backers the world over. We are humbled by your support and so proud of the collection’s final product,” Tucci said.

“I’m also looking forward to getting back into the Direct Market, and we will be offering the Shi Omnibus Volume 1 to comic shops through Diamond Comic Distributors,” he told Scoop exclusively. The date for this is pending, he said.
