Free Comic Book Day (FCBD), the annual comics holiday celebrating our industry by giving out free books to regular and new readers, will be held this weekend on Saturday, May 7, 2022. Once again, Gemstone Publishing will be a Silver Level Sponsor, offering The Overstreet Guide to Collecting Comics FCBD 2022.

Gemstone’s FCBD issue takes an inventive, comic book approach to the fun of collecting comics. Through a series of stories, it tells the overall journey of getting started, getting serious, and still having fun with collecting. It also showcases how comic books can help power your dreams.

The cover on this issue features Darin Henry’s Blue Baron, rendered by Ron Frenz and Sal Buscema with colorist Glenn Whitmore.

San Diego-based Overstreet and Blue Baron fans will have the opportunity to get the issue signed by Darin Henry on FCBD at Southern California Comics from 10 AM to 3 PM. The store is located at 8280 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard #124, San Diego CA.

J.C. Vaughn, Gemstone Publishing’s Vice-President of Publishing, who wrote most of the 48-page issue, will also be signing copies of Overstreet’s FCBD issue on Saturday. He’ll be a guest at the Comic Book Depot at 2847 Jerusalem Avenue, Wantagh, NY from 11 AM to 2 PM. Vaughn will appear along with fellow comic creators Billy Tucci (Shi: Return of the Warrior), John Broglia (Zombie-Sama), and Joe James (Dark Dominion), as well as balloon artist Mr. Poppintwist.

The Overstreet Guide to Collecting Comics FCBD 2022 is illustrated by Brendon and Brian Fraim, with stories colored by Hi-Fi’s Brian Miller, House Imagi, and Chris Summers, and lettered by Mindy Lopkin and Marshall Dillon. There’s also a story written and illustrated by Joe James, colored by JayJay Jackson, and lettered by Lopkin.
