It’s a Wonderful Life actress Virginia Patton Moss died on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at the age of 97.

Patton Moss was best known for playing Ruth Dakin Bailey, the wife of George Bailey’s brother, Harry.

Born on June 25, 1925, in Cleveland, Ohio, Patton Moss made her film debut in 1943 in the musical Thank Your Lucky Stars. Then she had roles in Old Acquaintance, Janie, The Last Ride, Hollywood Canteen, The Horn Blows at Midnight, and Canyon Passage. After It’s a Wonderful Life, she was in The Burning Cross, Black Eagle, and her final role was in The Lucky Stiff.

She retired from acting in 1949 and moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan where she worked as a docent at the University of Michigan Museum of Art.
