Steve Borock, the Senior Consignment Director at Mycomicshop.com (MCS), will leave the company in January 2023. The veteran industry figure joined MCS in the spring of 2022, following his departure from CBCS, the third party independent grading service he co-founded.
MCS and Borock made the announcement in their weekly newsletter, both stating that it was an amicable parting of ways.
“I’ve learned a lot from Steve during his time with us, and I’ve loved our dinner conversations and having him in the office next door to me,” MCS President Conan Saunders said. “It’s been a pleasure bouncing ideas off each other and working together at recent conventions like OAFCon, Baltimore, and the Collectors Summit. From me, Buddy and Judy, and all of us at Lone Star Comics, we wish Steve the best in Florida and with whatever he pursues next in the wonderful world of comics.”
Borock told Scoop it was a very difficult decision, but one he made for his family, particularly his grandchildren.
“We all discussed the possibility of me working remotely from Florida as I have done previously in my career, but after thinking about it long and hard they knew that they really wanted somebody in a role like mine to be available ‘in house.’ That’s their way of doing things and it works extremely well for them. I really respect that! They told me that they completely understand my emotions and life concerns. They are so wonderful,” he said.
