The Little Mermaid is ready to become part of our world in the first full length trailer for the upcoming live-action movie. The trailer, which debuted during the Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday, March 12, 2023, previews classic story elements and gives the first look at Ursula.

The teaser introduced Ariel and the look of her oceanic home, and now in the full length trailer, we get to see Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King), King Triton (Javier Bardem), Sebastian (voiced by Daveed Diggs), Flounder (voiced by Jacob Tremblay), and Scuttle (voiced by Awkwafina).

It begins with the shipwreck that leaves Ariel smitten with Prince Eric after saving his life. Her curiosity about humans and her father’s disapproval leads Ariel to Ursula’s dark cove and the chance to become a human herself. Ariel sings a portion of “Part of Your World,” the “Kiss the Girl” scene is teased, and other animated film moments are recreated.

The Little Mermaid is directed by Rob Marshall, whose credits include Chicago, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and Mary Poppins Returns.

The movie will be released in theaters on May 26.
