The Walking Dead’s Michael Cudlitz is ready for his close-up as the new Lex Luthor. In January 2023, Superman & Lois announced that Cudlitz had been cast as Lex for season three, but with a different angle for the character.

Entertainment Weekly got the exclusive first look at Cudlitz as Lex. He is sporting the character’s bald head, but with Cudlitz familiar facial hair.

For this incarnation, Lex will have the public persona of the powerful billionaire who runs LexCorp while also being a psychopath dominating the criminal underworld. His story will pick up after he’s been out of the public eye for years and is bent on getting revenge against Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) for perceived injustices from the past.

According to showrunner Brent Fletcher, Lex will appear later in the season following a slow burn build up. He also described this Lex as having a different demeanor than previous portrayals of the supervillain.

Superman & Lois kicked off season three on March 14, 2023.
