Ghostbusters has made four calls for new cast members. Kumail Nanjiani and Patton Oswalt, as well as Emily Alyn Lind and comedian James Acaster have been added to the Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel.

The movie, which will be set in the franchise’s original home of New York City, sees the return of Afterlife stars Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, and Celeste O’Connor. Gil Kenan is directing the movie and Afterlife director Jason Reitman is moving into the writer-producer role. They will co-pen the script with Jason Blumenfeld.

Released in 2021, Ghostbusters: Afterlife was considered a reboot/sequel in which Egon Spengler’s estranged daughter and grandchildren inherit his house after his passing. The precocious granddaughter, Phoebe, soon learns about ghosts and their plot to infiltrate our world once again. Original series stars Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts all made cameos. It had a successful run during the pandemic, with a $44 million opening weekend and make $200 million worldwide.

Sony Pictures has not announced who Oswalt, Nanjiani, Lind, and Acaster will play in the sequel.
