Betty Ross is back.

Liv Tyler, who played Betty Ross in 2008’s Incredible Hulk, is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tyler will appear in Captain America: New World Order as Ross, the daughter of General, now President, Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross.

Tyler originated the role of Betty Ross in the MCU’s second film (following Iron Man), opposite Edward Norton who played Bruce Banner, the scientist turned Hulk. Norton handed the role of Banner/Hulk to Mark Ruffalo who went on to play the character in the Avengers movies and other MCU entries. The late William Hurt played Thunderbolt Ross in Incredible Hulk and later MCU films. The role will now be played by Harrison Ford.

Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) will make his film debut as the new Captain America in the fourth Captain America movie, after he took the mantle of the hero in the Disney+ series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The new film will expand on teh dynamic between Sam Wilson and President Ross, who have been on the same and opposite sides of past situations. Marvel’s announcement about Tyler’s return did not indicate how big her role will be in the movie.

Captain America: New World Order will also star Sebastian Stan, Tim Blake Nelson, Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Carl Lumbly, and Xosha Roquemore. It will be in theaters on May 3, 2024.
