House of the Dragon is adding four new members to the family. HBO has announced the additions of Simon Russell Beale (The Death of Stalin), Freddie Fox (Victor Frankenstein), Gayle Rankin (Kindred), and Abubakar Salim (Jamestown).

Beale is playing Ser Simon Strong, the Castellan of Harrenhal and great uncle of Lord Larys Strong (Matthew Needham).

Fox joins the royal family as Ser Gwayne Hightower, son to Otto (Rhys Ifans), brother to Queen Alicent (Olivia Cooke), and uncle to King Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney), Queen Helaena (Phia Saban), and Prince Aemond (Ewan Mitchell).

Rankin will play Alys Rivers, a healer and Harrenhal resident, and Salim will star as Alyn of Hull, a sailor in the Velaryon fleet who was a part of the Stepstones campaign.

Returning first season cast members include Emma D’Arcy (Queen Rhaenyra), Matt Smith (Prince Daemon), Eve Best (Princess Rhaenys Targaryen), Steve Toussaint (Corlys Velaryon), Fabien Frankel (Ser Criston Cole), Harry Collett (Jace Velaryon), Bethany Antonia (Baela Targaryen), Phoebe Campbell (Rhaena Targaryen), and Jefferson Hall (Jason Lannister), in addition to those mentioned above.

Ryan Condal, the series co-creator who was the co-showrunner on the first season, will be the sole showrunner for season two. He and A Song of Ice and Fire creator George R.R. Martin are among the executive producers.

House of the Dragon season two is currently filming in London.
