The Librarians are back to protect the world from the misuse of magical artifacts. The CW has greenlit The Librarians: The Next Chapter with franchise architect Dean Devlin as showrunner and executive producer.

The Librarians is a TV movie and series franchise about extremely intelligent and versatile librarians who are tasked with finding and guarding magical items from harming the world. The franchise began in 2004 with the TV movie The Librarian: Quest for the Spear, starring Noah Wyle. He went on to star in two more movies in 2006 and 2008, then a TV series featuring three librarians and their guardian aired from 2014 to 2018.

The new series will follow a Librarian from the past who traveled through time to the present and is now stuck there. Upon returning to his castle, the Librarian discovers that in the present it has become a museum, and he accidentally releases magic back into the world.

Rachel Olschan-Wilson and Marc Roskin are also executive producers on The Librarians: The Next Chapter. There is no word on whether or not stars from the films or TV series will appear in the new show.
