Grab a blindfold and a birdcage, because Netflix has released the first full length trailer for Bird Box Barcelona. The sequel to the 2018 breakout hit horror movie arrives in July 2023.

“Whatever you do, don’t open your eyes,” one character says in the ominous trailer. Bird Box Barcelona follows Sebastian (Mario Casas) as he bands together with others who are trying to survive the sight-based apocalyptic entities that are massacring people around the world. As they travel through Barcelona looking for an escape, another threat shows itself.

According to producer Dylan Clark, Barcelona is set during the same time as the first movie that starred Sandra Bullock as new mother Malorie attempting to survive the entities in the US. Producer Chris Morgan has stated that Malorie’s story was just the beginning and that they anticipate exploring how people all over the world would deal with and survive the apocalyptic event.

Bird Box Barcelona stars Georgina Campbell, Diego Calva, Alejandra Howard, Naila Schuberth, Patrick Criado, and Celia Freijeiro. It will start streaming on Netflix on July 14, 2023.
