Guide #54 connecting coversIcons of the 1990s and the modern, creator-owned comics, Brian Pulido’s Lady Death and Billy Tucci’s Shi celebrate their 30th anniversaries in 2024, and The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide #54 will put them front and center with individual covers that combine to form one powerful, larger image. Tucci and colorist Wes Hartman delivered the art of these two powerful characters.

Scheduled to appear in the April 2024 PREVIEWS from Diamond Comic Distributors and hit comic shops on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, these covers will be available in both hardcover ($44.95) and soft cover ($34.95) formats. Each of these editions will be PREVIEWS Exclusive and only offered in comic shops.

Lady Death coverThey mark only the second time in the Guide’s more than five decades that two covers have combined to form one larger image. The first was Amanda Conner’s CBPG #46 covers featuring Power Girl and Harley Quinn. Tucci has previously illustrated covers for both the Guide and The Big, Big Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide, but never featuring his own character.

“As a comic book collector myself, it is an honor for my character Lady Death to grace the cover of the 2024 Overstreet alongside my dear friend Billy Tucci’s iconic Shi,” said Lady Death creator and Coffin Comics publisher Brian Pulido. “I am humbled and amazed to be celebrating thirty years of Lady Death and what better way to celebrate?”

The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide is the collector’s bible, the Gold Standard when it comes to the overall comprehension, tracking, and the appraisal of comics. To have Shi alongside Lady Death adorn the covers to the Guide (illustrated by me no less!), is a testament to the value of self-publishing and staying power of creator-owned comics. It is an incredibly humbling honor that 12-year old Billy Tucci could never imagine in his wildest dreams, and a true career highlight,” said Tucci.

Shi cover“It seems almost impossible that these two superstar characters have been with us for three decades, but their devoted fans have proven the staying power of Lady Death and Shi. Billy Tucci and colorist Wes Hartman have given us as a beautiful image to celebrate the characters, their creators, and their fans for our 54th edition,” said J.C. Vaughn, President of Gemstone Publishing.

Tucci rejoins a line-up of amazing talent more than five decades deep with fellow Guide cover artists Joe Kubert, Will Eisner, Carl Barks, Wally Wood, C.C. Beck, Joe Simon, Mark Chiarello, Darwyn Cooke, Adam Hughes, Dan Jurgens, Joe Jusko, J.
