A GoFundMe fundraising campaign has been created to help comic writer Brett Lewis, following his second traumatic brain injury. Lewis, who is known for The Wintermen, Bulletproof Monk, and Thief of Thieves, was assaulted in 2009 and suffered his first traumatic brain injury.
On January 14, 2024, Lewis lost consciousness and was found unresponsive the next morning with a brain bleed. His injury was so severe that he was transferred from a hospital in Culver City, CA, to the neurocritical care unit in Los Angeles. Then he needed an emergency hemicraniectomy to drain a massive blood clot.
Lewis won’t be able to work for some time. He’ll need to be transferred to a rehab facility, and have home care, leading up to another surgery in 2-3 months.
The goal for the fundraiser is $100,000 for medical care and living expenses.
